Transparency International EU is part of the global anti-corruption movement, Transparency International, which includes over 100 chapters around the world.

Transparency International EU’s mission is to prevent corruption and promote integrity, transparency, and accountability across European Union institutions, policies, and legislation. As the EU office of the global Transparency International movement, we work to ensure that decision-making processes are open, fair, and free from undue influence within the EU member states.

Transparency International EU advocates for stronger anti-corruption laws, better enforcement mechanisms, and greater public access to information. By engaging with policymakers, civil society, and citizens, we seek to uphold democratic values, protect public resources, and foster an ethical political culture. Through research, advocacy, and partnerships, Transparency International EU strives to create a fairer, more transparent Europe where power is exercised responsibly and in the public interest.

Since 2008, Transparency International EU has functioned as a regional liaison office for the global movement and as such it works closely with the Transparency International Secretariat in Berlin, Germany. As such, Transparency International EU leads the movement’s EU advocacy. We cooperate closely with national chapters worldwide, particularly with Transparency International’s 22 national chapters and two national contact points in EU Member States.

Our Theory of Change

Our goal is that by 2034, power in the EU will be held to account for the common good. Our theory of change sets out how we plan to make that happen.
