Transparency International EU, alongside other watchdog NGOs LobbyControl, Corporate Europe Observatory and the Good Lobby, has submitted a complaint to the European Parliament’s Advisory Committee regarding another potential MEP conflict of interest.

The complaint concerns Czech MEP Alexandr Vondra, a member of the right-wing ECR group in the European Parliament. In particular, Mr Vondra has never declared his chairmanship of the Prague Center for Transatlantic Relations (PCTR), a defence-focused organisation sponsored by major defence corporate stakeholders. In his work as an MEP, Mr Vondra is involved in legislative work of direct interest to the PCTR and its sponsors, notably as shadow rapporteur for the so-called Defence Omnibus. However, Mr Vondra has consistently declared the absence of any conflicts of interest in his parliamentary work.

The Advisory Committee must now immediately investigate this case of potential conflict of interest and, should it establish a breach of the MEP Code of Conduct, levy the appropriate sanctions.
