The General Assembly and the Executive Board determine our overall priorities and oversee the work of the office.

TI EU is an international non-profit association under Belgian law. The overall priorities of the organisation are set by the General Assembly, which approves the annual budget and the annual accounts and appoints the Executive Board. The Executive Board is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the organisation. The Board appoints the Director. The Executive Board and General Assembly are currently comprised of the following five persons:

Daniel Eriksson (Chair)

Daniel Eriksson joined the board in May 2020. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Transparency International Secretariat. He has been an employee with the Swedish government, the United Nations, the European Commission, civil society organisations and, in recent years, in leadership roles of publicly listed corporations.

Daniel is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and has a BSc in Information Systems Analysis from Linköping University in Sweden, and a PhD from Coventry University.

Cesira d’Aniello

Cesira D’Aniello joined the TI EU board in June 2023. She has longstanding experience in issues of transparent and accountable policymaking at EU level, having retired from her post as Secretary-General of the EU Ombudsman in 2022. She previously worked at the General Secretariat of the EU Council of Ministers, including spending three years as Director of Transparency.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from Sapienza University in Rome, and a master’s degree in international relations and economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Maíra Martini

Maíra Martini joined the board in January 2024. She is the interim Head of Policy and Advocacy at the Transparency International Secretariat and leads the Transparency International movement work on corrupt money flows.

She is a lawyer and holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.

Victoria Tongue

Victoria Tongue joined the board in June 2023. She is currently Head of Projects at the Transparency International Secretariat, having previously been Head of Futures and Innovation at the International Civil Society Centre.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in human and social sciences from the University of Oxford, and a master’s degree in the social anthropology of development, development economics and international development from SOAS, University of London.

Fabian Zuleeg

Fabian joined the board in May 2020. He is currently the Chief Executive and Chief Economist at the European Policy Centre in Brussels.

He is an economist by training, and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations from the University of St. Andrew’s, a master’s degree in economics from the University of Glasgow, and a PhD in economics from the University of Edinburgh.
